Statement

I have always been drawn to origins—the beginnings of life’s many phenomena, the stories of my ancestors, my family, and the layered meanings of belonging. I believe that the future is shaped by the past, and without that continuum, the present feels fragmented—partial. My artistic practice emerges from this awareness: a need to reconnect, to excavate, and to give form to what is often hidden or intangible. At the heart of my process lies the moment when an image is born—especially in printmaking. That sensation, when the paper is lifted from the cliché, is unexplainable and always unique. Though I work across media—installations, objects, video, and site-specific actions—printmaking remains my foundational language. Its materiality and repetition raise questions that resonate with me: What is an original? What is a copy? Am I a copy? Even in contemplating my own body—my eyes, my lips, my face—I wonder: has anyone ever had, or will ever have, these exact features? Who is the original, and who is the reproduction? These are not only formal concerns but conceptual ones. My work navigates the space between memory and presence, absence and material trace. I am fascinated by how texture, writing, image, and narrative can express personal and collective emotion. Blending classical techniques with digital technologies—printmaking, photography, video, and computer-generated processes—I aim to make emotions visible and tactile, placing them in space where they can be felt. Living and working in Skopje, in a landscape marked by social and political transitions, my work often speaks to broader themes: migration, identity, silence, and resistance. I explore how inherited images and cultural codes shape both public and private life—and how they can be deconstructed. For me, art is not only a personal expression, but a way to reflect critically on systems of power, history, and representation. Through each work, I search for ways to transform vulnerability into presence, emotion into form, and the past into something that can be seen, touched, and reimagined.
